A few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting Brianne Binder at a blogging event in San Francisco. We hit it off immediately and I knew I wanted to share her fantastic blog with you guys. Bri is a personal stylist and reading her blog is like getting a consultation with her for free! She has an impeccable eye for trends and does a great job of pulling together looks you need for each season; its a must read in my book.
We have joined forces to share our love of fashion and style with each other’s readers. Today is the first day of our monthly series together and we thought it would be fun to do a little getting to know you Q and A. Take some time to get to know Bri and don’t forget to follow her blog and like her on Facebook, Instagram (her pics are amazing), and Twitter! I’m also blogging over at BB Style today and answering some fun fashion queestions as well; check it out here.
BB Style is full service fashion and personal styling service in the Bay Area founded by Brianne Binder. After almost 10 years working in Fashion Merchandising and buying she ventured out on her own to start BB Style. She is passionate about fashion and style as well as being a retail expert, making the move to personal natural step. She also curates a style Blog that showcases her personal style, behind the scenes of projects she’s working on, trends, tips and tricks, sale alerts and style inspirations.
How do you stay inspired?
For fashion I read tons of blogs and magazines to always keep up with what’s trending now and in the future. Street style images and editorial shoots continually inspire my style and blog features. I find inspiration everywhere.. creative people, traveling, and even in places you would least expect like a funky coffee shop. I’m drawn to color mixing and patterns and love interesting window designs. Kate Spade always has the most creative store windows.
If you could trade closets with anyone who would it be?
Kate Moss! I’m sure she has a warehouse for her closet but I would have a field day.
If we opened up your purse right now what would we find?
I am currently carrying a cobalt blue purse I picked up at Zara! I’m really getting into fall colors and am continuously drawn to this color. In my bag I always have a couple little bags that keep all my cosmetics and little stuff (gum, Advil, a hair tie and Bliss hand lotion) contained. I love the fun little bags at Forever 21, they always have cute patterns and are cheap. I know it sounds crazy to have little bags in my bag.. but this keeps everything contained, organized and makes it super easy to change purses quickly. I always have my ipad mini, Rifle Paper Co notebook and business cards to stay connected and ready for any meeting or client. I can’t leave home without my Ray Ban sunglasses, keys, iphone (with Rifle Paper Co Case), Peter Thomas Roth instant mineral sunscreen and Bobbi Brown powder compact. Lastly always have my go to YSL lip stain (#15) and at least a couple other glosses or lip pencils. I currently love Revlon’s Berry Allure gloss and satin lip pencil. Gotta be prepared for anything with a stocked purse!
What is your ultimate guilty pleasure?
Sephora.. I could be in Sephora for hours and spend way too much money on new discoveries that were not on my shopping list. Facials are also a major guilty pleasure of mine.. It’s something I treat myself to.
What is one blog you can’t stop reading?
I am a long time Cupcakes and Cashmere reader and still am. I love Emily’s aesthetic, style, creativity and consistency. She’s one of the original style bloggers and is still innovating and inspiring. I also love discovering and meeting new local SF bloggers, like The Daily Lookbook!
Describe your personal style in one sentence?
Casual chic with a little edge and a lot of sparkle. I love keeping it simple with staple pieces but adding flair with color, a little pattern and accessories!
Last item purchased?
Damsel x Gorjana gold hanger necklace (I couldn’t help it, the hanger was too perfect!)
Who are your style icons?
Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Giselle and Charlize Theron.
If you could shop at one shop where would it be?
Nordstrom! Everything you need apparel, special occasion, shoes, designer, beauty, accessories.
How often to you detox / purge your closet?
Definitely more than most people since it’s my specialty! I would say every couple months I go through different parts of my closet and I do a big purge seasonally.
Do you have any go to personal styling tricks?
Always dress for your shape, flattering your body is number 1. It’s all about proportions; highlight your assets and camouflage challenging areas! A simple outfit that you feel great in, confidence and great accessories is a winner every time.
What’s top on your Fall wishlist?
A quilted leather jacket
Beauty product you can’t live without?
Sunscreen, moisturizer, lip stain and mascara.
Owns to many:
Necklaces and bracelets.. it’s a problem!
My turquoise heart necklace and B charm that I wear almost every day. The necklace was my Grandmothers and the charm was a gift from my husband for my 30th birthday!
What’s your favorite brand of denim?
J Brand, they’re long, quality and have the best fit. I also love Levi’s and Gap for denim at a good price point and value!
What’s your favorite skin care item?
Aesop fabulous face oil. I’m slowly migrating to natural skincare and beauty once I finish products that I have. I really want to try everything from One Love Organics. Stay tuned!
What fashion tip would you give to someone for the upcoming season?
Try anything with leather detailing for fall and get a bold colored coat. Make a statement and don’t be afraid to take chances and try a new trend even if it’s in a small way.
Heels or flats?
Mostly flats because I’m 5’10” but I do love a cute heel on occasion. I love my staple J.Crew ballet flats to wear with everything and add some color with colored flats or a fun leopard print flat.
